The Methodist Hospital is a 1000 bed tertiary referral center in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center--ten specialties are listed in U.S News and World Report as best in the nation. Every specialty and sub-specialty is represented, and many have resident services to handle admissions. There are in-house hospitalist programs in internal medicine, OB/GYN, and surgery that are dedicated to caring for all ER no-doc call. Our physicians care for 36,000 patients annually in the 24-bed ED, with four 10-hours cascading physician shifts a day. We see mostly high acuity major medical emergencies, with very little trauma, pedi, GYN, or fast track type patients.

The Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, although only 5 years old, is currently constructing a brand new state of the art hospital adjacent to the current facility, with a completion date in 2008. Outrageous growth in this well to do suburb has pushed ED volumes higher 30% each year. The new facility will house a brand new 24 bed ED, complete with all of the latest equipment. The current 11-bed emergency department cares for 36,000 patients annually, with 8 and 10 hour doc shifts, plus 12 hours of daily MLP coverage. There is also a fast track on weekends with 12 hours of MLP coverage.

WCH is a 292-bed acute care, private, non-profit medical center with a Level III Trauma Center.
